El-Rufai Fires Back at Reno Omokri Over Genocide Allegations
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has responded sharply to allegations made by ex-presidential aide Reno Omokri, who accused him of complicity in the genocide of Southern Kaduna Christians and other human rights violations.
Omokri alleged that El-Rufai not only enabled violence but also demolished the homes of his political opponents while in office. He further accused the former governor of making controversial statements about Christians and allegedly paying off killer herdsmen.
El-Rufai’s Response
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), El-Rufai dismissed Omokri as nothing more than a “PR consultant” and “online influencer”, suggesting that such figures have flourished under the current administration due to their “moral flexibility” and “total shamelessness.”
“The only qualifications needed to be on the payroll are (1) moral flexibility, (2) total shamelessness, (3) selective amnesia, (4) wretched upbringing, and (5) intense craving for quick and easy money,” El-Rufai wrote.
Omokri Hits Back
In response, Omokri doubled down on his accusations, maintaining that El-Rufai’s administration was responsible for severe human rights violations, including the 2015 Zaria Shiite massacre, where Nigerian soldiers allegedly killed hundreds of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).
The heated exchange has once again reignited debates about El-Rufai’s legacy, particularly concerning religious and ethnic tensions in Kaduna State during his tenure.
