Clarifying legal principles, the judge emphasized that once a judgment has been delivered, the court becomes “deaf and dumb” to further arguments on the matter, underscoring the finality of its decision.
No Stay of Execution Granted
Addressing recent media reports, the court debunked claims that a stay of execution had been granted to the judgment debtor. The judge confirmed that no such order was issued, and any assertions to the contrary were deemed misleading.
Legal representatives for the first and second defendant judgment debtors, M.Y. Abdullahi (SAN) and Z.E. Abbas Esq., were present in court and corroborated the court’s position. Additionally, Barr. Sanni Abbas Esq. challenged anyone alleging the existence of a stay of execution order to present a copy of such an order as evidence.
Court Urges Due Process
Reiterating the importance of legal due process, the court warned against the spread of misinformation and urged all parties to respect the finality of its ruling. Any party dissatisfied with the judgment was advised to file an appeal rather than engage in public distortions of the legal process.
