Abuja, Nigeria – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has debunked claims that the ongoing 2025 Direct Entry (DE) registration exercise will close on Monday, April 7, 2025, clarifying that no official closing date has been announced.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, the board explained that the liberalized registration timeline is intentional, allowing adequate time to conclude investigations into candidates suspected of presenting fake A-Level results during the registration process.
“The registration is still ongoing. There is no deadline of April 7 as being speculated in some quarters,” the statement emphasized.
JAMB disclosed that several candidates have already been arrested or are under investigation for attempting to gain admission with forged academic credentials. The board warned that the registration portal has been fortified with advanced verification systems capable of identifying such discrepancies.
“Candidates with questionable A-Level results are strongly advised not to proceed with registration, as the board’s systems are designed to flag such inconsistencies,” the board warned.
In a more stringent move, JAMB also urged those who may have previously gained admission using fraudulent credentials to voluntarily withdraw, as the scope of its investigation has now been expanded to include students already admitted into tertiary institutions.
The board reiterated its commitment to upholding the integrity of the nation’s admission process and warned that anyone found culpable of forgery or impersonation would be prosecuted and blacklisted from all future academic opportunities under its jurisdiction.
This latest warning reflects JAMB’s continued efforts to sanitize the education system and ensure that only candidates with authentic and verifiable qualifications are considered for Direct Entry admissions into Nigerian universities.
