Israel-Hamas War: Ex-Buhari Aide Bashir Ahmad Praises Slain Hamas Leader

Abuja, Nigeria – Former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad took to X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader killed by Israeli forces. Ahmad posted a tribute saying, “He was born, lived, and died a leader,” alongside a photo of Sinwar.

Yahya Sinwar’s death came after Israeli forces hunted him for his role in the 7 October attack on Israel, which led to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. His killing marks a significant moment for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government as they continue their efforts to dismantle Hamas’ leadership.

Hamas, a militant group that has ruled the Gaza Strip for nearly two decades, does not recognize the state of Israel, which it views as an occupying force. The October 2023 attack launched by Hamas resulted in the deaths of nearly 1,200 Israelis and led to a war that has claimed tens of thousands of lives, according to Palestinian officials.
