Iran Reacts to Killing Of Hamas Leader Sinwar By Israeli Forces, Labels Him Model For Youths

The Islamic Republic of Iran has reacted to the killing of Hamas leader, Yahya Sinwar.

In a post on the X handle of the Permanent Mission of Islamic Republic to the United Nations, Iran labelled Sinwar a martyr.

“When U.S. forces dragged a disheveled Saddam Hussein out of an underground hole, he begged them not to kill him despite being armed. Those who regarded Saddam as their model of resistance eventually collapsed.

“However, when Muslims look up to Martyr Sinwar standing on the battlefield—in combat attire and out in the open, not in a hideout, facing the enemy—the spirit of resistance will be strengthened.

“He will become a model for the youth and children who will carry forward his path toward the liberation of Palestine. As long as occupation and aggression exist, resistance will endure, for the martyr remains alive and a source of inspiration,” the mission tweeted.

The Israeli Army earlier confirmed the killing of Sinwar in a recent attack on Gaza.

This was widely reported by Israeli media platforms making reference to senior military officials in the country.

Israel Defense Forces earlier said in a statement: “During an activity by IDF fighters in the Gaza Strip, three terrorists were killed.

“The IDF and Shin Bet are investigating the possibility that one of the terrorists is Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identity of the terrorists cannot be confirmed.”

“In the building where the terrorists were killed, no signs of the presence of abductees were found in the area.

“The IDF and Shin Bet forces operating in the area continue to operate under the necessary caution,” it added.

The killing of Sinwar has led to conversations around possibility of a ceasefire in the region’s war between Israel and groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and also Iran, although the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted the war is far from over.
