President Bola Tinubu is currently engaged in a security meeting with service chiefs and other heads of security agencies at the State House, Abuja. This meeting has been convened in response to the recent surge in security breaches across the country, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where kidnappings have escalated with brutal outcomes.
The attendees of this ongoing meeting include the Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogala; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar; the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and other heads of security outfits.
While there hasn’t been an official briefing on the meeting’s agenda, it is presumed that President Tinubu and the security chiefs are discussing the recent security situation in different parts of the country. The focus is likely on devising strategies to curb the increasing activities of criminals, including kidnappers and bandits.
The meeting is convened shortly after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, held his own security assessment meeting in response to the disturbing incidents unleashed by kidnappers in the nation’s capital. These criminals have not only kidnapped individuals but also engaged in mindless killings while making hefty ransom demands from their victims.
