Imam Remains in Prison as Admiral Usman Jibrin and General Bauka Cleared of All Charges

Abuja, Nigeria – The name of former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Jibrin Usman Oyibe And General Ishaya Bauka have been officially dropped from the corruption case at the Federal High Court in Abuja today, as proceedings on the matter exposed the baseless allegations leveled against him.

The case, Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/158/2023, originally linked Admiral Jibrin to purported financial misdeeds through a whistleblower, Mr. Sayeed M. Shaibu [An Igala man], who falsely accused him of using an NSCDC staff member, Adams Imam, as a front to amass wealth. However, the latest developments in court have proven these allegations to be entirely unfounded, malicious, and orchestrated to tarnish the reputation of the distinguished Admiral.

Court Proceedings and Revelation of Falsehoods

During the hearing, the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as the complainant, proceeded against Adams Imam Yusuf and Ummays Hummayo Energy Ltd, now the only defendants in the case. The prosecution moved a motion for amendment of the charge, which was granted by the court.

Following the amendment, the newly formulated charges were read to the 1st defendant, Adams Imam Yusuf, who pleaded not guilty to all three counts. His counsel subsequently moved a motion for bail, which was granted under strict conditions, including a bail sum of ₦30 million, a surety with landed property of equal value within the court’s jurisdiction, and travel restrictions without court approval. Until these bail conditions are met, he is to remain in custody at the correctional facility. The case has been adjourned to May 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2025, for trial.

Failed Smear Campaign Against Admiral Jibrin

With the court’s decision to clear Admiral Jibrin Usman Oyibe of any wrongdoing, it has become evident that the case was built on a foundation of lies. Mr. Sayeed M. Shaibu [An Igala man], the whistleblower, and Adams Imam Yusuf, who was presented as the alleged front, are now enmeshed in their own web of deceit, as their claims have crumbled under legal scrutiny.

This development further solidifies Admiral Jibrin’s reputation as a man of integrity who has served Nigeria with honor and dedication. It is regrettable that such baseless accusations were made against him in the first place, but justice has now prevailed.

As the legal process continues against the actual defendants, the public can rest assured that truth has prevailed, and the attempt to tarnish Admiral Jibrin’s name has failed. Observers believe that those behind the malicious campaign should face legal consequences for misleading the public and attempting to weaponize the judiciary for personal vendettas.
