A horrific domestic dispute in Ekiti State resulted in the death of a woman over the weekend. The incident took place at the couple’s residence on Christ Avenue in the Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti. Reports from local sources indicate the altercation occurred either on Friday evening or Saturday morning, with varying accounts on the exact timing.
The couple had reportedly sent their older child on an errand and secured their apartment before the dispute escalated over allegations of infidelity. The husband, identified as a law enforcement agent, and his wife, who was employed at a local chemist shop, reportedly used sharp objects to attack each other during the fight. The specific implements used in the altercation—whether knives or bottles—remain unclear.
According to a witness, the couple had locked themselves in with their younger child, about five years old, when the confrontation became violent. Neighbors, alerted by the noise, attempted to intervene but found the apartment door locked. In a desperate effort to assist, some residents removed parts of the ceiling to gain entry.
Upon breaking into the apartment, they discovered the couple with severe injuries. The wife was found unconscious and immediately rushed to a hospital. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries before medical help could save her.
The husband is currently hospitalized, receiving medical treatment under police surveillance. The local police have been notified of the incident, and an investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of this tragic event.
