The National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has received directive from the House of Representatives not to grant Discos’ request for an increase in electricity rates.

According to Lagos Reporters, the Green Chambers approved the motion on Thursday during plenary session.

proposal proposed by Sani Madaki, Kano State-based member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), was adopted after the resolution was passed.

Recall that there were rumors that the rising cost of gasoline would cause 40% increase in electricity costs. The 2022 Multi-Year Tariff Order (MYTO), which is due for biannual review this month, was claimed to be condition of the increase
