A tragic incident unfolded at the Palasa Guest Inn in Gwagwalada, Abuja, as a police inspector, Lawal Ibrahim, was discovered dead after allegedly engaging in a sexual encounter with a woman he had met online.
The inspector, attached to the Kwali Division, reportedly checked into the hotel on Wednesday night with 22-year-old Maryam Abba, who had traveled from Dutse, Jigawa State, at his invitation.
Events Leading to the Incident
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the duo engaged in a sexual encounter on Wednesday night, followed by another round early Thursday morning. However, shortly after the second encounter, Maryam noticed that Ibrahim’s breathing became irregular, and he became unresponsive.
In a bid to revive him, she reportedly sprinkled water on him but to no avail. Maryam subsequently raised an alarm, alerting the hotel manager, Danlami Palasa, who promptly notified the police.
Discovery and Investigation
When officers from the Gwagwalada Police Division arrived at the scene, they found Ibrahim’s lifeless body in the hotel room. He was later taken to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death, and his body was deposited in the mortuary.
Items discovered in the room included:
- A watermelon.
- A suspected aphrodisiac.
- Ibrahim’s phone charger.
- His police identity card.
Maryam was arrested at the scene, and authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police Reaction
An officer at the Gwagwalada Police Division, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident and disclosed that Maryam is in custody.
