Hon. Honorius Arome Congratulates Gov. Usman Ododo on Appeal Court Victory

Abuja, Nigeria – In an important show of support, Hon. Honorius Arome has congratulated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on his recent victory at the Court of Appeal. The court upheld Governor Ododo’s election, dismissing the appeal filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its governorship candidate, Murtala Ajaka.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja affirmed the decision of the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which declared Ododo the duly elected governor. The SDP and Ajaka had argued that the tribunal’s judgment was a miscarriage of justice and sought to have it overturned, asserting that Ododo was not qualified to contest the election and calling for all votes cast for him and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be invalidated.

In response to the court’s decision, Hon. Honorius Arome extended his heartfelt congratulations to Governor Ododo, expressing his confidence in the governor’s leadership and commitment to the people of Kogi State.

“I wholeheartedly congratulate Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on his well-deserved victory at the Court of Appeal. This decision reaffirms the will of the people of Kogi State and strengthens our democratic process,” Hon. Arome stated. “Governor Ododo has shown exceptional dedication to the development and progress of our state, and I am confident that his administration will continue to bring positive changes that will benefit all Kogites.”

Hon. Arome also praised the judiciary for upholding justice and ensuring that the electoral process remains fair and transparent. He called on all political stakeholders in Kogi State to join hands with the governor in fostering unity and progress.

“The judiciary has once again demonstrated its vital role in safeguarding our democracy. I urge all political actors to respect this decision and work collaboratively with Governor Ododo to achieve our shared goals of development and prosperity for Kogi State,” Hon. Arome added.

The Court of Appeal’s decision marks a decisive end to the legal contest over the November 11, 2023, governorship election, solidifying Governor Ododo’s position as the duly elected leader of Kogi State. As the state looks forward to continued progress under his administration, the support from leaders like Hon. Honorius Arome signifies a unified commitment to the future of Kogi State.
