It has been demonstrated that you grasp the entire significance of your duty, which is to demonstrate to the citizens of Nigeria that a competent administration is achievable, he articulated.

Previously, Tinubu made a visit of condolence to the household of the deceased ex-Governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu, and made a stop at the residence of the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III.

While addressing the audience at the monarch’s residence, he praised the late Akeredolu as a patriot and a notable legal expert who devoted himself tirelessly to the service of his people.

“We have lost a prominent figure. Akeredolu was a close confidante and a collaborator. He was a true local, and I am here to pay respects,” the President remarked.

He conveyed his wishes for the well-being, advancement, and wealth of the royal leader and the community and expressed gratitude towards the Owo populace for their backing of the grieving family.

Joined by the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Tinubu also expressed sympathy to the late governor’s spouse, Betty, the offspring, and other kin.

Lately, advocacy groups for human rights, the Joint Action Front and the Coalition for Revolution on Monday took to the streets in Lagos State to voice their opposition against the escalating food prices and the rising living costs in the nation.

This demonstration occurred in defiance of the caution given by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, on Sunday.

He stated that the police were informed about the intentions of some individuals to demonstrate in the state and would ensure that adequate measures are in place to protect the lives and properties of the residents of Lagos.

Prior to this, the youth in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, on Monday, embarked on a protest against the soaring food prices and the economic situation.

The PUNCH noted that protesters convened around the Mokola area in the state, displaying signs with various messages such as ‘End food hike and inflation,’ ‘The poor are starving,’ and ‘Tinubu, remember your promises,’ among others.

They also sang songs to express their discontent.
