Gunmen Attack Taraba Governor Kefas’ Family As Police Escort Accidentally Shoots Governor’s Sister During Commotion

Atsi Kefas, the sister of the Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, was reportedly shot by a police escort on Thursday.

This, The Bureau Newspaper gathered, happened along Kente Road in the Wukari Local Government Area of the state when some gunmen attacked the governor’s mother, Jumai Kefas, and his sister, Atsi, while travelling.

In the confusion during the attack, a police officer assigned to escort the family accidentally shot Atsi Kefas while attempting to fend off the assailants.

According to Zagazola Makama, a security intelligence expert, the incident occurred as the family was traveling through the area, which has seen a rise in bandits activities.

Meanwhile, the timely intervention of troops saved what would have been a tragedy as they quickly rescued the victims, evacuating Jumai and Atsi Kefas to safety via an air ambulance.

Atsi was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but her condition remains unknown.

The vehicle was recovered, and an empty magazine and passenger luggage were found inside.
