Gunmen Abduct Over 20 Medical and Dental Students in Benue State

Makurdi, Benue State – Gunmen have abducted more than 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, in Benue State. The incident occurred as the students were traveling to the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.

The students, reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were ambushed around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State.

SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation has been launched. “Yes, the report of kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” she said.
