LOKOJA, Nigeria — Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has outlined an ambitious blueprint to transform the state’s urban landscape and address critical housing needs. The initiative was unveiled during a two-day symposium on “Modern Housing and Urban Development,” held at the Glass House in Lokoja’s Government House.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, Joseph Oluwasegun, the Commissioner for Environment and Ecological Management, emphasized the administration’s unwavering commitment to improving residents’ quality of life through sustainable housing and urban development.
The event, attended by policymakers, industry experts, and local stakeholders, was designed to tackle pressing housing challenges in the state. Abanika Taiye, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, represented by Dr. Zainab Obadaki, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, highlighted the government’s focus on providing affordable housing that promotes inclusivity and environmental sustainability.
“This initiative reflects our dedication to meeting the needs of the people while ensuring that development aligns with sustainability goals,” Dr. Obadaki said.
Governor Ododo’s administration has also taken significant steps to resolve long-standing land disputes and address environmental degradation in the state. Aliu Salami, the governor’s economic adviser, underscored the far-reaching implications of the new blueprint. “This plan is a gateway to unlocking Kogi State’s potential for rapid economic growth and development,” he noted.
The symposium marks a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to modernize its urban and housing infrastructure. As part of the initiative, Governor Ododo’s administration aims to enhance economic opportunities while fostering social inclusion through innovative housing solutions.
