By Aliyu Usman – Birnin Kebbi
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has been hailed as a leading figure in fostering a harmonious working relationship between state and local governments in Nigeria, setting a new benchmark in grassroots governance, policy implementation, and rural development financing.
This commendation was made by Alhaji Yawale Adamu Sauwa, a renowned public affairs analyst and politician, who noted that while some local governments in other states complain of over-centralization and interference, Kebbi’s 21 local government councils continue to enjoy autonomy, inclusion, and consistent financial support under Governor Idris.
“Dr. Nasir Idris is running one of the most inclusive state governments in Nigeria,” Yawale said. “He not only pays local government salaries regularly, but also provides extra development funds, making sure that infrastructure projects, healthcare, and rural education are not neglected.”
Governor Idris’ Open-Door Policy Enhancing Grassroots Development
Yawale emphasized that Governor Idris operates an open-door policy that allows local government chairmen to communicate their concerns and receive timely interventions.
“The governor listens, responds, and takes immediate action because he understands that effective governance starts at the grassroots level,” he added.
This working synergy, he said, has significantly boosted rural infrastructure, agriculture development, community health services, and educational access in local areas across the state.
Call for Continued Support and Political Stability
While encouraging the governor to maintain the momentum, Yawale urged Kebbi residents and stakeholders to support his administration for the overall success and sustainable development of the state.
“The heart of the state beats with the local governments,” Yawale said. “Their functionality directly reflects on the state’s progress. With continued cooperation, Kebbi State can lead the country in decentralized development.”
He concluded by describing Governor Idris as a prime example of accountable leadership, inclusive governance, and a promoter of inter-governmental collaboration in Nigeria’s evolving democracy.
