Funanani Mbedzi, a worship leader, passed away after it was reported that her husband assassinated her inside their church during the Easter celebration.
The murder suspect entered the church in Makonde Shadani hamlet, outside of Thohoyandou, at around six o’clock at night while the congregation was worshiping, and allegedly shot his wife many times, according to South African police.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, a spokesman for the Limpopo SAPS, confirmed the event and stated that the husband left the site after killing his partner.
Even though it’s still unclear why this horrible occurrence occurred, domestic violence is a possibility. After evading capture for two days, the individual turned himself in to the police yesterday.
Ledwaba claims that during the arrest, the suspect’s licensed firearm—which was allegedly used to perpetrate the crime—was seized.
