Germany lacks at least 400,000 competent workers each year.
Nigerians and other applicants from around the world can now apply for visas online thanks to the opening of a portal by German officials.
Germany’s Federal Foreign Office made this announcement in a statement on January 1.
“Today, January 1, 2025, the Consular Services Portal is being launched globally, allowing individuals worldwide to apply for German visas online,” the statement says.
The statement claims that anyone who wish to work, study, or visit their family in Germany can now apply online for 28 different types of national visas.
The online visa application gateway is a good step that will help Germany meet its demand for talented workers, according to Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
Germany lacks at least 400,000 skilled people annually. To keep our nation going, 400,000 bright minds and even more dexterous hands work in tech enterprises, skilled trades, and care facilities. Additionally, our country’s economy is competing globally to draw in students, apprentices, and trainees.
“Due to lengthy paper application forms and even longer waiting periods, we cannot afford to simply put the best off coming here to roll up their sleeves during times like these.” As one of the largest economies and a contemporary immigration nation, we require a state-of-the-art national visa application procedure that is secure, digital, and modern in these times, Ms. Baerbock stated.
