Fulani Terrorists Kidnap 3 Police Inspectors In Delta, Steal AK47 Rifles

Three mobile police officers from PMF 51, Oghara, were reportedly kidnapped by alleged herdsmen in the Ohoror community along the East-West Road in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Sunday Special reported that the abductors took the service AK47 rifles and ammunition of the policemen, who were forced into the bush.

The abducted officers were among a team of six mobile policemen deployed to the Ughelli-Patani Road nipping point.

The incident reportedly caused anxiety in the community.

A source within the police stated that the officers were taken while responding to an emergency call.

“A young man, identified as Moses Progress, aged 22, from the Uwheru community, approached the team, claiming he was robbed of his OPPO phone and money by suspected herdsmen near a bridge close to their location while conducting rituals for the river god.

The patrol team leader then assigned three inspectors to accompany the complainant to the site, each armed with an AK-47 rifle.

The remaining team members, waiting for the inspectors’ return, later encountered the complainant fleeing the area on a motorcycle, without the police officers,” the source explained.

“They stopped him to ask about the whereabouts of the three mobile police officers who accompanied him. He then revealed that they were ambushed in the bush by six herdsmen, and he managed to flee while the policemen scattered in different directions.

When he informed the team that he was unaware of the location of the police officers who accompanied him, they decided to detain him after calling for reinforcements,” the source added.

Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State command, was unavailable for comments regarding the incident at the time this report was prepared.
