Two days before their traditional wedding in Abia State, a lady accused her husband and his future wife of deserting her and their kids, leading to their detention.
On Sunday, January 5, 2025, Ochiegbu Marvelous, an activist with the Abia state chapter of the Behind Bar Human Rights Foundation, revealed this on Facebook.
He claimed that after the state commissioner of police and the Abia State Police Command’s Complaint Response intervened, the man and his future bride were eventually freed.
He said that the first wife attacked the second wife’s mother and interrupted the ceremony while it was still in progress.
One of the elders in my village came to my home on January 3, 2025, and sobbed uncontrollably. He explained that his daughter, whose traditional marriage is scheduled for Sunday, January 5, 2025, is in prison at RRS with her husband.
When I asked him what crime she had committed, he replied that the first wife had arrested the husband on the grounds that he had left them to wed someone else. that they are being held because the marriage will not work.
The story made me feel horrible. A few young people from my community begged me to accompany them to the station so they could get firsthand information about what actually happened.
As I arrived at the station, I saw the first wife, who had arrested the husband and soon-to-be wife, boasting that she would imprison my village sister for seven years for marrying her husband there.
that in order to ensure the marriage fails, the soon-to-be bride will bring one million dollars if she brings out five hundred thousand. I was completely taken aback. Before I left the station, I stayed composed until I had heard what she had to say.
Kai! It hurt me to witness someone boasting when they had no idea what the future holds.
In brief, the office of the Commissioner of Police Abia State Police Command intervened and they were released at no cost.

The officer in charge of this case (IPO) used a lot of derogatory language and slurs, but I find it all rewarding when the correct thing is done.
One thing about me is that when someone attacks me when I’m on duty, I don’t respond.
As I write this, they are celebrating their traditional marriage.
