On January 20, 2025, a startling discovery led to the arrest of the Senior Pastor of God’s Deliverance Apostolic Church, which is situated on Rumunduru Farm Road in Port Harcourt. During an inquiry, police discovered a coffin hidden beneath the church altar and a live python.
Since the pastor was largely considered a spiritual leader, the arrest has caused a stir in the community. Recent claims, however, imply that he might have engaged in dubious and suspicious actions while posing as a religious leader.
The coffin and the live python were concealed right under the church altar, according to police records. When the police stormed the church and discovered the unsettling discovery from a member, they were allegedly responding to a tip.
Witnesses to the occurrence in the community voiced shock and indignation. A local resident stated,
We used to attend this man’s prayer and fasting session every Friday because we believed he was a prophet of God, but this revelation is startling. We never thought such depravity would be occurring so close to home.
