Ex-Corps Member Kidnapped by Bandits in Niger State on Journey Home After NYSC Parade

A former member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Linda Chiamaka Obi, has reportedly been abducted by bandits while traveling home following her passing-out parade in Kebbi State. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 3, 2024, near Zungeru in Niger State.

Reports indicate that Obi was traveling in a vehicle heading from Kebbi to Onitsha, Anambra State, when the bandits ambushed the group, abducting Chiamaka and a family of four. Tragically, a male passenger was killed during the attack, while the driver and two other passengers suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Chiamaka, originally from Ogbuokwe Edenta, Okwietiti, in Imo State, is a graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede. This distressing incident highlights the ongoing security challenges affecting road travelers in parts of Northern Nigeria.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, but the community is urging a swift response from security agencies to locate and rescue those taken captive.
