Emirate Tussle: Flag of Authority Hoisted at Aminu Ado Bayero’s Palace

Kano, Nigeria – Amid ongoing disputes over the Kano emirate throne, traditional and official flags have been hoisted at the Nassarawa mini palace occupied by Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano.

The flag, a significant symbol of authority, was hoisted early Wednesday morning with an iron rod, though the flag itself was only raised by 6 am on Thursday. The flag’s daily schedule involves being raised at 6 am and taken down by 6 pm, remaining down when the emir is officially outside the palace or travels.

Symbol of Authority

The flag signifies the presence of an emir and represents his authority. Its hoisting at the Nassarawa mini palace underscores Aminu Ado Bayero’s claim to the Kano Emirate throne amid the tussle.

Emirate Dispute

The situation remains tense as both Aminu Ado Bayero and Muhammadu Sanusi II continue to observe and exercise traditional rites in their respective palaces, each asserting their claim to the emirate throne.

The flag’s hoisting is a significant development in the ongoing tussle, marking Aminu Ado Bayero’s continued assertion of his authority and presence as the Emir of Kano.
