El-Rufai’s Son Backs Probe of Father’s Administration, Warns Against Political Witch-Hunt

Kaduna – February 7, 2025

Mohammed El-Rufai, the eldest son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed support for the state government’s probe into his father’s administration, provided it is conducted transparently and without bias.

Speaking in an interview with the BBC Hausa Service on Saturday, Mohammed, who represents Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, emphasized that accountability is crucial but warned against using investigations as a political tool.

“If done for selfish reasons, such inquiries only harm progress,” he cautioned.

On the Rift Between His Father and Governor Uba Sani

Addressing the widely reported rift between his father and his successor, Governor Uba Sani, Mohammed downplayed the situation, stating that the media had exaggerated the issue. He clarified that reconciling the two political figures is not his responsibility, though he personally finds their strained relationship unfortunate.

“Some people are delighted seeing my father and the governor enmeshed in a conflict, just like the legendary Bollywood actors, Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra fighting,” he remarked.

Despite the tensions, Mohammed reaffirmed his focus on serving his constituents, stating that his priority remains effective governance rather than intervening in political disputes.

The Kaduna State Government has yet to officially respond to his statements, as the probe into the previous administration continues.
