DSS Seizes National Assembly as Impeachment Tension Escalates

Abuja, FCT – The National Assembly precinct resembled a warzone this morning as operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) took over the premises amidst speculations of an imminent impeachment move against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

The presence of DSS personnel has heightened tensions, with reports suggesting that some aggrieved Northern Senators, allegedly dissatisfied with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, are reviving a previous attempt to unseat Akpabio.

Globally, parliaments maintain internal security units responsible for ensuring order and safety within legislative premises. However, external security agencies are often deployed to safeguard lives and property, particularly in the event of potential breaches or threats that may disrupt legislative proceedings.

This morning, OrderPaper observed that DSS operatives dressed in dark suits and wearing intimidating dark shades were stationed at strategic points, from the main entrance to the second gate, and at all entry points within the premises. Their overwhelming presence has sparked further speculation about the unfolding situation within the National Assembly.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but the atmosphere remains tense as political observers await further developments regarding the speculated impeachment plot against the Senate President.
