Kano Anti-Corruption Commission Uncovers N20 Billion Land Scam, Arrests 15 Suspects

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has uncovered a massive N20 billion land scam and arrested at least 15 suspects involved in fraudulent land deals across the state.

Among those apprehended are the Registrar of the Kano State High Court, three lawyers, and four officials from the Ministry of Lands.

Key Arrests and Bribery Attempt

Addressing journalists at the commission’s headquarters on Thursday, the PCACC Chairman, Muhuyi RiminGado, confirmed the arrests, revealing that a serving High Court Registrar, a former Deputy Sheriff, and a court bailiff were among those detained.

RiminGado further disclosed that the suspects attempted to bribe security personnel with N2 million to suppress the investigation, but their offer was rejected.

Government Support for the Investigation

He commended the Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Aboki, for her support and cooperation in tackling corruption within the judicial system.

Additionally, he acknowledged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his directive to ensure that all individuals involved in the scam face justice, stressing that no one would be spared regardless of their status.

The commission has vowed to continue its crackdown on corrupt practices in the state, with more arrests expected as investigations deepen.
