Court Grants N500,000 Bail to Arrogant Ikwechegh Over Alleged Assault on Bolt Driver

A Kuje Magistrate Court has granted bail to Alex Ikwechegh, the House of Representatives member representing Aba North and South, following his arraignment on charges of assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, outside his residence in Abuja.

Ikwechegh faced charges including abuse of office, assault, and threat to life. Presiding over the case on Wednesday, Magistrate Abubakar Umar Sai’id ruled in favor of the lawmaker’s bail application, setting bail at N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The court stipulated that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide their utility bills as proof of residence.

The court has adjourned the case to November 8 for trial as the matter continues to draw public attention.
