BREAKING: Nigeria’s national grid collapses for the second time in one week

Nigeria has been plunged into darkness as the country’s national grid collapsed for the second time in one week.

The bulk power supply was disrupted around 11:20 am on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

This is the second time the grid has collapsed this week and the eleventh time in the last eleven months.

Confirming the grid collapse, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company wrote: “Dear Esteemed Customer,

“The current outage is as a result of a system collapse of the National Grid.

The power system stakeholders are working to restore supply as soon as possible. Please bear with us.”

Meanwhile, the Transmission Company of Nigeria has not issued an official statement on the reason the grid collapsed again on Thursday.

However, recall that the TCN on Tuesday blamed the grid collapse on lines and generator trippings.

This comes as the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu on Wednesday received an investigative report on the incessant grid collapse in Nigeria. The details have not been unveiled to the public.
