Breaking News: Jose Peseiro Quits As Head Coach Of The Super Eagles

Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Nigerian national football team, the Super Eagles, has indicated his intention to step down from his role following the team’s performance at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023. Under Peseiro’s guidance, Nigeria reached the tournament’s final but suffered a 2-1 defeat to the host nation, Ivory Coast, in a closely contested final match.

Reports suggest that Peseiro has made the decision to resign from his position as the Super Eagles’ head coach and is anticipated to officially announce his departure tomorrow, according to multiple sources. This development marks a significant moment for Nigerian football, as the team now looks forward to navigating the challenges of transitioning to new leadership and building on the progress made during Peseiro’s tenure.

After his NFF contract expired, the 63-year-old Portuguese tactician is supposedly a free agent and has not yet chosen his next coaching position.

Peseiro claims he has up to seven offers on the table and has been connected to the open position in Algeria.

“I told everyone to come back at the end of the month. What is certain is that I want to continue coaching and I need to choose wisely,” he told Goal.

“At this moment, I repeat, all options remain possible. I received a lot of options and a lot of contacts from national teams or clubs.

“I would say 5, 6 or 7 offers.

“I let them all know that I need to rest and that when my contract expires I will talk about it and start thinking about other projects. And decide my future. For now, I need to take a break and be calm.

“But I listen to the proposals and projects that are offered to me. And I evaluate whether I like it or not.”
