Nigeria’s football community has been thrown into mourning following the death of Christian Chukwu, former coach of the Super Eagles, who passed away at the age of 74.
The legendary coach died earlier today, although the exact cause of death remains unclear at the time of filing this report.
Chukwu, fondly known as “Chairman”, was a towering figure in Nigerian football history, celebrated both for his exceptional career as a player and for his contributions as a coach.

In 2021, false reports of Chukwu’s death had gone viral, prompting the coach to personally debunk the rumours during his 70th birthday celebration on January 4, 2021.
“I am terribly embarrassed with this news that I am dead. Several people have been calling me from across the world since the news broke. I am still investigating the source of the story,” he had said.
