Bandits Kill Two, Abduct Zamfara RMAFC Coordinator, Others In Road Ambush

Bandits abducted the Zamfara State Coordinator of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Alhaji Bashir Abara Gummi, and several others along the Funtua-Gusau Road on Sunday.

It was gathered that the gunmen blocked the busy road and reportedly killed two persons during the ambush.

However, multiple vehicles, including the one in which the RMAFC coordinator was travelling, were targeted.

It was learnt that Gummi was en route to Abuja for an official assignment when the kidnapping occurred.

An eyewitness reported that the bandits opened fire on several moving vehicles, killing two people on the spot before abducting the RMAFC coordinator and numerous other travelers.

“The bandits blocked the road, fired shots at the vehicles and kidnapped several passengers,” the witness said.

Zamfara State Auditor General, Alhaji Abubakar Dan Maliki, narrowly escaped the attack. He arrived at the scene shortly after the first set of vehicles was halted by the bandits but managed to make a quick U-turn upon realizing the danger.

When The Bureau Newspaper contacted the Zamfara State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Yazid Abubakar, he did not answer calls or respond to messages sent to him.
