The family of the late Prince Abubakar Audu, a former governor of Kogi State, has formally denied rumors that they are providing sanctuary to Yahaya Bello, the recently succeeded governor of the state. These speculations arose following Bello’s disappearance and the unsuccessful attempt by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to apprehend him during a raid on his Abuja residence.
In a public statement, Mohammed Abubakar Audu, son of the late Prince, addressed the allegations head-on. He clarified that the family’s residence in Ogbonocha, located in the Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, is strictly a private home for the Audu family and not intended to serve as a hideout for political figures.
“The attention of Prince Abubakar Audu’s family has been drawn to spurious and ridiculous rumors and publications circulating across various social media platforms,” Mohammed stated. He vehemently denied the claims, asserting, “Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello is not being harbored in our family house at Ogbonocha. We wish to inform the public that this claim is entirely false.”
He further emphasized the family’s commitment to the values of honesty and integrity, principles that were deeply important to his father during his lifetime. The Audu family urged the public to remain discerning and skeptical of baseless rumors designed to create confusion.
