Army Raids Taraba Terrorists Den: Rescues Victim, Arrests 3 Kidnappers Over N2M Ransom

The Nigerian army announced on Thursday that it had stormed a kidnappers’ hideout and freed one victim.

It stated that during the operation in northeastern Nigeria’s Taraba State, three terrorists were apprehended by the soldiers.

Following the kidnapping of one Hassan Adamu on March 26, 2024, at Kofan Adamu village in the Takum Local Government Area of the state, the army are said to have acted on credible intelligence on Thursday.

The Nigerian Army announced, “In a swift and successful operation, the Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have demolished a kidnappers’ den, rescued a victim, and apprehended three suspected kidnappers in Taraba State,” in a statement that was released on its official X (previously Twitter) feed. The operation, which happened in Takum Local Government Area’s Kofa Adamu hamlet, led to the safe release of a victim who the perpetrators had been holding captive.

According to reliable information, on March 26, 2024, Mr. Hussein Adamu was kidnapped in Kofa Adamu village. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of two million Naira. Following this, troops from the 93 Battalion/Sub-Sect 3A OPWS moved quickly to cordon off the area and free the victim.

Additionally, throughout the operation, three suspected kidnappers were taken into custody.

“While the captured suspects are being questioned by military personnel in military custody, the rescued victim is presently receiving medical care at a secure location.

“The Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade is dedicated to fighting crime and protecting the safety of the people of Taraba State, as demonstrated by this successful operation.”

Brigadier General KC Uwa, the Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, commended the soldiers for their prompt action and asked the public to continue aiding the armed forces by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or criminal activity within the state, according to the statement.
