FEC Approves ₦600bn for Urgent Road Projects Across Nigeria
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the sum of ₦600 billion for critical road infrastructure projects requiring urgent attention across various states.
Speaking to State House correspondents, the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, said the projects were captured under four separate memoranda presented to the council.
Breakdown of Approved Projects

Odupani-Itu-Idedem Item-Ikot Ekpene Road (₦55bn)
- Location: Cross River and Akwa Ibom States
- Scope: Dualization of the highway to improve connectivity between both states.

Ibadan-Ilorin Road (Ogbomosho Section 2) (Amount Not Specified)
- Location: Oyo State
- Scope: Dualization of a section of the 147-kilometre Ibadan-Ilorin highway.

Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road (₦507bn)
- Location: FCT, Kaduna, Kano
- Scope: Completion of 82km out of the remaining 164km on this critical expressway.

Abakpa Flyover (₦24bn)
- Location: Enugu State (Bordering 82 Division of the Nigerian Army)
- Objective: To ease traffic congestion around the area.
The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to road infrastructure, noting that these projects will enhance economic growth, reduce travel time, and improve road safety.
