Breaking News: Chairman of Ukum Local Government Abducted on Route to Royal Burial

In a shocking turn of events, the Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, Haanongon Gideon, along with three others, has reportedly been abducted by unknown individuals suspected to be kidnappers.

The incident unfolded on Saturday along the Zaki-Biam/Katsina-Ala road while the victims were en route to the burial of Ter Katsina-Ala, HRH Chief Ferzaanga Wombo, father of House of Representatives member Solomon Wombo.

Those abducted, including the Ukum Council Chairman, his Personal Assistant on Administration, his driver, and a police orderly, were reportedly taken around 6:30 am near Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala LGA.

The Council Secretary, Jonathan Modi, confirmed the distressing incident in an official statement, urging citizens to remain calm as measures are being taken to ensure the chairman’s safe return.

However, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, Sewuese Anene, when contacted, stated that she had not been briefed on the incident, adding an air of uncertainty to the unfolding situation.

The community awaits further updates as authorities work towards resolving this alarming abduction.
