18 Federal Directors Fail Permanent Secretary Exam, 11 Advance to Next Stage
Eighteen out of 29 federal directors who sat for the Permanent Secretary Qualifying Examination have failed, having scored below the required 50 per cent threshold.
This was disclosed in a memo signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Gabriel Aduda, on behalf of the examination committee.
Next Stage of Selection Process
According to the memo, only 11 directors successfully passed the examination and will proceed to the next stage of the selection process, which is scheduled for Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
The Federal Government, through the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, had earlier announced the commencement of the selection process to fill vacant permanent secretary positions in the civil service.
Eligibility and President’s Approval
A separate memo, signed by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, outlined the criteria for eligibility, stating that officials currently undergoing disciplinary procedures were barred from applying.
It also confirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had approved the appointment process.
Additionally, the memo highlighted that only candidates from specific states were eligible for selection, in line with the Federal Character principle.
The selection process is expected to continue in the coming weeks, with further assessments to determine the final appointments.
