Kogi, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Senator Dino Melaye, a prominent member of the party from Kogi State, over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision, contained in a memo obtained by The Bureau Newspaper on Friday, was made by the executive committee of Ayetoro/Iluagba Ward 1 after reviewing a report submitted by the disciplinary committee assigned to investigate Melaye’s actions.
The report concluded that Melaye’s recent conduct was detrimental to the party’s interests and unity, leading to the suspension.
This suspension mirrors previous actions taken by the PDP against members found guilty of anti-party activities. In August 2024, Peter Babalola, a chieftain from Osun State, was suspended for similar reasons, including his failure to attend party meetings for two years.
Similarly, former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, was also suspended by the Benue PDP for alleged anti-party activities earlier this year.
The party’s strict stance on internal discipline appears to be an ongoing effort to maintain cohesion and commitment within its ranks.
