Abuja, Nigeria – Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have identified and dismantled kidnapper camps located in the Gidan Dogo and Kweti forests of Kaduna State, bordering Abuja. This significant operation was confirmed by SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement provided to **DAILY POST** on Sunday.
The operation, conducted on Friday, was initiated based on credible intelligence regarding the activities of the criminal elements operating in these areas. During the raid, four suspects were apprehended: Yahaya Abubakar of Mpape, Mohammed Mohamed of Zuba, an ex-convict, Umar Aliyu, and Nura Abdullahi, also an ex-convict.
SP Adeh disclosed that the suspects confessed to being part of a notorious bandit syndicate known as ‘Mai One Million,’ which has been linked to a series of kidnapping incidents within the territory.
“The coordinated operation led to a shootout between the bandits and the security operatives, forcing the criminals to flee. The kidnapped victims were successfully rescued, and the illegally erected structures by the kidnappers in all the patrolled camps were destroyed,” Adeh stated.
She added that the rescued victims have since been reunited with their families and loved ones. The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, commended the security operatives for their efforts in combating criminal activities in the nation’s capital.
The FCT Police Command’s successful operation against these kidnapper camps underscores their commitment to enhancing security and protecting the lives and property of residents within the Federal Capital Territory.
