LOKOJA, KOGI STATE – Hon. Honorius Arome has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Governor Usman Ododo following his victory at the Kogi Governorship Election Petition Tribunal. The tribunal’s ruling, delivered on Monday, dismissed the petition filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its governorship candidate, Murtala Ajaka, thereby affirming Ododo’s election as the governor of Kogi State.
Call for Delivering Dividends of Democracy
In his congratulatory message, Hon. Arome urged Governor Ododo to focus on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi State. He emphasized the importance of addressing the needs and aspirations of Kogites and ensuring that the state experiences significant development and progress under Ododo’s administration.
“Governor Usman Ododo’s victory at the tribunal is a testament to the people’s mandate and the trust they have placed in his leadership,” Arome stated. “I urge him to use this opportunity to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people, focusing on inclusive governance, infrastructural development, and social welfare.”
A Call for Unity and Development
Hon. Arome also called for unity among Kogites, stressing the need for collective efforts to move the state forward. He appealed to all political stakeholders to support Governor Ododo’s administration in achieving the goals and aspirations of the people.
“Now that the legal battle is over, it is time for us to come together and work towards the common good of our state,” Arome continued. “Let us put aside our differences and join hands with Governor Ododo to build a prosperous and peaceful Kogi State.”
Tribunal Ruling Recap
The tribunal’s ruling came after allegations of rigging and vote-buying during the November 11, 2023, off-cycle election. Despite these allegations, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the election. The tribunal, after careful consideration of the evidence presented, dismissed the petition by the SDP and Ajaka, affirming Ododo’s victory.
