KANO, NIGERIA – The 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has assumed his position in the palace, greeted by traditional royal honours. This development unfolds amidst resistance from a joint security agency in Kano State, which maintains adherence to a court order preventing the monarch’s reinstatement.
Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II made his ceremonial entrance from the Emir’s inner palace to the outer palace, where customary court proceedings and audience receptions occur. He was met with jubilant cheers from hundreds of supporters as he gracefully rode a horse, embodying the regal spirit of the occasion.
Despite the opposition from the security agency, Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo reaffirmed the legitimacy of the monarch’s reinstatement, emphasizing that it was executed in accordance with legal protocols. Gwarzo dismissed the purported court order barring Sanusi’s reinstatement, asserting that it was not officially communicated to the relevant authorities.
