Abuja, Nigeria – Just over a year into his presidency, a campaign billboard promoting President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid for 2027 has been spotted in Abuja. The billboard features a photo of Tinubu affectionately holding his wife, Remi, with the message, “Grassroots Support for Tinubu 2027.”
The billboard, placed near the Velodrome of the National Stadium along Area 1 Road, is sponsored by a group called “Dark Matters.” This campaign effort comes shortly after Tinubu marked his first year in office amid rising concerns about the administration’s policies, which many believe have exacerbated the country’s economic challenges.
There are growing apprehensions about the president’s diminishing popularity, even though he has served less than two years. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has not yet announced a timetable for the upcoming 2027 elections.
In May, Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated that the ruling party is strengthening its efforts to ensure Tinubu secures a second term. Ganduje emphasized that the APC’s national leadership is collaborating with state chapters to maintain functional offices in wards across the country.
