Group Warns DSP Barau Jibrin Against Alleged Sabotage of Northern Presidential Candidates
A political support group, Atikulated Media, has cautioned Deputy Senate President (DSP) Barau I. Jibrin against alleged attempts to undermine northern presidential candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Umar Gajo and made available to The Bureau Newspaper, the group claimed that DSP Jibrin is allegedly carrying out a contract aimed at weakening the support base of northern presidential hopefuls, particularly former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Umar Gajo dismissed recent reports and images suggesting that some Atiku supporters had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing them as staged and orchestrated political drama. He insisted that those in the pictures were unknown faces, not genuine Atiku loyalists.
The group accused DSP Jibrin of using similar tactics in the past, recalling an instance where he claimed to have welcomed defectors from Rabiu Kwankwaso’s camp, only for them to return to their original political base. This, according to Umar Gajo, earned him the nickname “A Wanki Gara” (a term used to describe those paid to switch political sides).
Furthermore, Atikulated Media alleged that DSP Jibrin is using financial incentives to lure opposition supporters, only to later distribute part of the funds among his recruits. As a result, they have now dubbed him “A Wanki Arewa” (a northern turncoat).
The group warned that such actions could lead to political consequences for DSP Jibrin, particularly from northern stakeholders who are committed to securing the presidency in 2027.
Finally, Atikulated Media reaffirmed that Atiku Abubakar commands over 35 million followers and vowed to closely monitor all budget allocations to ensure fairness and transparency in governance.
