SMEDAN Highlights Economic Hardship in Nigeria, Calls for Increased Productivity
Over 130 million Nigerians have been pushed into poverty due to the prevailing economic challenges, according to Alhaji Badamasi Barau, Head of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), Kaduna office.
Speaking at the 21st Productivity Day organized by the National Productivity Centre (NPC) in Kaduna, Barau emphasized the need for increased productivity to counter the economic hardships.
Call for Action
“There is a need to address the major economic challenge which has pushed over 130 million people into poverty,” Barau said. “People need to be more productive in their daily activities to get over the economic hardship.”
He commended the theme of the event, “National Productivity Movement and Imperative for Economic Recovery, Sustainable Growth and Development”, as timely and relevant given the nation’s socio-economic challenges.
NPC’s Commitment to Productivity
In his welcome address, NPC State Coordinator Mr. Gideon Malgwui reassured participants of the centre’s commitment to fostering productivity through regular initiatives.
“This engagement will go a long way in finding solutions to most of the problems associated with productivity performance,” Malgwui said, expressing optimism about the event’s impact.
Experts Advocate for Solutions
Discussants Alhaji Kabiru Kasim and Mohammed Aminu Yahaya, in their respective presentations, stressed the importance of developing practical strategies to tackle productivity issues and improve economic recovery.
